About the Speaker
Elaine Leong graduated from the National University of Singapore with a
Bachelor of Laws (Honours) degree in 1993 and was admitted as an
Advocate & Solicitors of the Supreme Court of Singapore in 1994. She
practised corporate real estate for 4 years and served 4 years as a law
lecturer at Temasek Business School, Temasek Polytechnic.
In 2004, she obtained a Master of Laws (Intellectual Property &
Technology Law) from the National University of Singapore. Elaine is a
Senior Assistant Director/Legal Counsel in the Strategic Planning
Division and deals with copyright law and policy and corporate strategic
planning.
She serves on the IP Inter-Ministerial Committee chaired by the Attorney
General's Chambers, which deals with World Trade Organisation Agreement
on Trade Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights related issues,
the implementation of IP obligations in free trade agreements and IPR
enforcement. She has represented Singapore as a speaker and delegate at
international conferences and meetings of the WIPO Standing Committee on
Copyright and Related Rights. As part of IPOSą IP public education
initiative, she has delivered several talks and conducted workshops on
copyright for trade and business associations, schools, educational
institutions, libraries, government agencies and departments.
She has also worked with other government agencies on their copyright
matters.
